Who we are: in 1996, Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits (CIWLT) and its mother company ACCOR decided to create Wagons-Lits Diffusion SA in order to protect the intellectual properties ((c) & TM) and photo database (CIWL and PLM archive). With the objective of maintaining the database of brands and images, and control the uses of these properties through licensing contracts. All brands and other rights, as well as a considerable amount of digital images have been transfered from CIWLT to WL Diffusion. More info: see : legal (c) & TM
Why create WL Diffusion? Since 1883, Compagnie des Wagons-Lits and the Orient Express have enjoyed a huge public attraction. This has often created abuses with many un-controlled uses of our brand image. Among others, we can mention tentatives to register our brands and logos, the use of Orient Express for pornographic movies/magazines, or the use of our brands for many other commercial activities.
Our actions: Since it was created in 1996, Wagons-Lits Diffusion has signed more than 200 licensing contracts (for products bearing our logo) and more than 1000 publishing contracts (for photos) with most international media and publishing groups. We regularly sue companies for counterfeit or illegal use of our properties. Thus preserving this rich hsitorical heritage.
